We are now accepting nominations for the VFIS, Jim Blankenship Award for Excellence in Fire Training.

This award was established to honor achievement and excellence in training within the fire community in Montana. This award will recognize

an individual who has excelled at organizing or holding training with the purpose of advancement of fire service personnel. This award is open to both volunteer and career individuals. This award was inspired by Jim Blankenship who passed away in 2015. Jim served as a Fire Chief early in his career and later worked at the Washington State DNR and the Montana DNRC.

To nominate, please send a letter (no more than 800 words) explaining why the nominee should receive the award, and a list of three or more individuals (with contact information) who confirm the nominee’s contributions. The award will be presented at the chiefs convention in October in Missoula.

Please email nominations by September 1st to [email protected].
